Founded by Gwyn Williams in Australia, Zenthai Shiatsu is a movement based therapy that reduces stress, promotes freedom of movement within the body and optimizes well-being on all levels. Clients enjoy general optimization of wellness, as well as support for chronic and acute health concerns related to pain, tension, sleep, digestion, energy levels, menstruation, and immunity.
With roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Theory, Zen Shiatsu uses acupressure points and the energetic channels of each organ system (meridians) to bring balance and harmony to the body. Origin: Japan.
Originating back to monks meditating and hiking through the mountains of India, Traditional Thai massage has an inherently sacred undertone. It includes passive stretching of the body and moderate to deep pressure. The strengths of this therapy are in releasing muscular tension and energetic blockages. Origin: S.E. Asia.
Includes unwinding fixated patterns in the fascia and bringing mobilization to the joints through spiral movements and positioning; founded in the belief the body has the inherent knowledge and structure to heal itself. Origin: Euro-Western.
Ultimate unity within all things; the importance of love, service, and reverence towards all beings. Origin: India/infinite.
Expect to enjoy your experience! Zenthai is a dance of deep pressure, dynamic stretching, fascial unwinding and energetic attunement cradled within the safety of loving kindness and non-judgement. Zenthai is designed to feel good. You can expect to leave feeling refreshed, revitalized, and grounded.
You will be receiving the session on a soft futon-like floor mat. Throughout the session, the therapist will reposition your body in a variety of comfortable postures — occasionally even seated upright.
Zenthai sessions are practiced fully clothed. Loose, warm, comfortable clothes are essential. Your therapist will apply static pressure, dynamically move the joints, and position the body for fasical unwinding.
As well as being trained and qualified as therapists, practitioners of this modality are also committed to self-cultivation practices such as meditation, Yoga, Qi Gong, and Tai Chi. This creates a treatment emphasizing presence, intuition, and deep listening. The sacred connection that is found during a Zenthai Shiatsu session allows space for healing on a very deep level.
